Material Suppliers For Special Needs Persons
In order to relay information to parents and caregivers regarding various suppliers across Pakistan providing material & equipment for Special Needs Persons, we at LittlePureSouls (LPS) have collected basic details about them so that you can approach them directly if needed. It includes Study Materials, Tools, Toys, Medical Items, Furniture, etc.
Interviews & Awareness/Informational Sessions
To provide information to parents & caregivers we are conducting interviews with Special Education Centres/Facilities, Professionals, and also making awareness sessions. International Days Observed For PWDs:
It’s always good and beneficial to celebrate specific days internationally to bring the society’s focus to a particular event, incident, cause or occasion etc. The same is the case for the celebration of specific days against different disabilities so that we can increase the awareness in public. This will surely help the society to accept these individuals and encourage it to plan things that can accommodate them as well.
Below are some of the days celebrated for PWDs against different categories:
World Braille Day
The World Braille Day was chosen as an international day by the United Nations General Assembly in November 2018. The day is celebrated on 4th January every year.
International Wheelchair Day
The International Wheelchair Day is celebrated on March 1st, starting from the year 2008. It was the idea of Steve Wilkinson who himself was diagnosed with Spina Bifida.
World Down Syndrome Day
The United Nations General Assembly announced to observe 21 March as World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) via resolution A/RES/66/149 on December 2011.
World Autism Awareness Day
The UN (United Nations) declared April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day via resolution A/RES/62/139. It was passed on November 1st 2007 and adopted on December 18th 2007.
Autistic Pride Day
The “Autistic Pride Day” is celebrated on June 18th every year. The “Autistic Pride Day” was actually the initiative of Aspies for Freedom which celebrated this day in 2005 for the first time.
International Day of Sign Languages
The International Day of Sign Languages is approved via UN General Assembly’s resolution A/RES/72/161. The International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) is celebrated on 23rd September every year.
World Sight Day
An annual awareness day regarding vision-impaired individuals called World Sight Day (WSD) is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of October.
International Day Of Persons With Disabilities
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was announced officially in the year 1992 by UN resolutions 47/3 and is observed internationally on 3rd December.
