International Wheelchair Day
The International Wheelchair Day is celebrated on March 1st, starting from the year 2008. It was the idea of Steve Wilkinson who himself was diagnosed with Spina Bifida. At that time, there was no awareness day regarding the wheelchairs. He worked hard to create the one after a great positive impact on this own life. He was interested that more people should know and have access to a wheelchair.
Purpose Of International Wheelchair Day :
The purpose of International Wheelchair Day is to:
- Increase awareness regarding the wheelchairs and the person who requires these.
- Display the positive impact of a wheelchair on the lives of people in need.
- Celebrate the different achievement of people involved in providing wheelchairs to individuals in need.
- Encourage the manufacturers and the people who provide support to wheelchair users.
What is a Wheelchair?
A wheelchair is a machine operated manually or automatically for a person to improve his or her mobility caused by a challenge or any other reason. It can be used in both indoor and outdoor environment depending on the need and type.
WHO reports that the majority of the people who need the wheelchair does not have access to suitable wheelchairs.

There are many reasons for which a person need a wheelchair, below are some of them.
